LATEST: Man (60s) arrested and released from custody after hit and run incident in Kilkenny

Gardaí in Kilkenny are continuing to investigate all the circumstances of a serious injury hit and run road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 10.30pm on the night of Saturday, February 15, 2025.

One male pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle which failed to remain at the scene.

He was removed from the scene to St Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny and he remains in a serious condition.

A man aged in his 60s has been arrested in connection with this incident and was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in Kilkenny.

He has since been released from custody and a file will be prepared for the DPP.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

An Garda Síochána have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident or may have relevant information, CCTV or dashcam footage to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 7775000.

Investigations are ongoing.
