Court told at least one attendee brought ‘recreational drugs’ to Kilkenny[s Springsteen concert

Bringing ‘recreational drugs’ to the Kilkenny Bruce Springsteen concert resulted in a court appearance and a fine for one reveller.

Ryan Tracey, 25 Wolfe Tone Close, Dublin 1, pleaded guilty to a charge of being in illegal possession of drugs.

Sergeant Morgan O’Connor told Kilkenny District Court that on May 12, 2024, gardaí came across Mr Tracey at Hebron Road. He was acting suspiciously and gardaí got a strong smell of cannabis.

Mr Tracey was searched and found with €10 worth of cannabis. He said it was for his own use.
There were 13 previous convictions recorded against Mr Tracey.

Solicitor Alex Rafter said his client had been in Kilkenny attending the Bruce Springsteen concerto and ‘probably like many concert goers used recreational drugs’. Mr Tracey is 28 years old, the solicitor added.

Judge Aine Clancy convicted Mr Tracey and imposed a fine of €100.
