Gardaí issued a warning after seizing an illegal e-bike and e-scooter in Kilkenny
Kilkenny gardaí have seized an illegal e-bike and e-scooter and have taken to social media to raise some awareness around the issue.
Gardaí said the e-bike in question was a Shengmilo MX03, which they described as an illegal e-moped.
According to the post, legal e-bikes must have a 250w motor with assistance ceasing at 25km/h and require the rider to pedal at all times.
Gardaí said the seized Shengmilo MX03 had a 1,000w motor and was capable of throttle-only travel.
An illegal Kukirin e-scooter was also seized during the operation.
Gardaí said both riders were from the same household and are due before the courts.
In the social media post, gardaí reminded users of legal e-bikes and e-scooters to obey the rules of use.
