Heartbreak following sad and sudden death of 'brilliantly creative' teacher from Kilkenny

Siobhan Ryan passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 30, 2025.

Tributes have poured in following the sad and sudden death of Siobhan Ryan, late of 3 Friars Hill Mews, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny and formerly of Castlehale, Kilmoganny, Co. Kilkenny.

Siobhan passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, at her home on Thursday, January 30, 2025.

She is predeceased by her parents Tom and Carmel Ryan.

Much loved, Siobhan will be forever missed in the the hearts of her family, son Feidhlim, brother John, sister Regina, sister-in-law Helena, niece Laura, Regina’s partner Lester, Feidhlim’s father Peter, aunt Joan, uncle Sean extended precious cousins in both Limerick and Nottingham, also Siobhan’s wide circle of friends, in particular Veronica and Jim, her friends from her camogie days, colleagues in Ferryhouse, and friends through her involvement in the arts.

Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Siobhan, with one mourner writing,

"Such sad news, sincere condolences to Feidhlim and all of the Ryan family. I was very fortunate to have worked in St Joseph’s school, Ferryhouse alongside such a kind and brilliantly creative artistic teacher. We had many lunch time walks and great chats. Her sense of humor and her quick wit never failed to lift our spirits in the staff room. I will cherish the memories forever. May Siobhan rest in peace."

Another wrote,

"So sad to hear of Siobhan’s passing. Siobhan was a wonderful pottery teacher who gave her students the freedom with guidance to express themselves through creative Art. A kind colleague during her years in Ferryhouse. May Siobhan rest in peace."

While another wrote,

"Feidhlim, John, Regina and the extended Ryan family - so sorry to hear the sad news of Siobhán’s passing. Although we hadn’t met for many years, I remember Siobhán’s skill and tenacity on the camogie field, being cheered on from the sideline by Tom. I’m very glad we played together on the same team as she was formidable opposition. May Siobhán rest in peace."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing in Molloy's Funeral Home, Callan, Co. Kilkenny (Eircode R95 Y443), today, Tuesday, February 4, from 5pm to 7pm.

A Cremation Service will take place on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 in The Island Crematorium, (Eircode P43 DD71) Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork at 3pm.
