RIP: Adored Kilkenny barman passes away

The late Tom McGrath

Legendary Kilkenny barman, Tom McGrath has passed away.

Tom and his brother Speedy (Eamonn) were part of the team at the helm of Syd Harkin’s pub on Rose Inn Street for a combined 72 years until their retirement in February 2024.

The pair formed many life-long friendships over the years and Tom's loss will be felt by all in the community.

Tom will be dearly missed by his loving siblings Eileen, Michael, Jim, Des, Eamonn, Kathleen, Gerry, Joe, Nuala, Brendan and Philip, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours, a wide circle of friends and all he knew in the Vintners Trade and the GAA Community.

FUNERAL DETAILS: Reposing in Johnston's Funeral Home, John's Green, Kilkenny (R95XE00) on Tuesday, February 25 from 4pm with Funeral Prayers at 6.30pm followed by removal to St Patrick's Church. Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 12noon. Interment afterwards in Tullaherin Cemetery, County Kilkenny.
