RIP: Shock and sadness in Kilkenny as man of 'profound generosity' passes away

The late Revd Canon Ian Coulter

The Kilkenny community has been left deeply saddened by the sudden passing of the Revd Canon Ian Coulter over the weekend.

Mr Coulter contributed positively to a number of areas across Kilkenny life and was highly regarded for his commendable work with local bodies such as; Kilkenny Rotary, the Good Shepherd Centre and St Canice's Credit Union.

Paying tribute, a spokesperson for the Diocese of Cashel, Ferns and Ossory described him as a "devoted husband and father, a conscientious priest and caring pastor."

Dean of Ossory, Revd Stephen Farrell described him as a friend with a 'listening ear, full of great stories and deeply insightful.'

"You could have total trust in his wisdom and his discretion," Revd Farrell added.

Meanwhile, the Good Shepherd Centre in Kilkenny remembered their former Chairperson as "a person of profound generosity, compassion and service." - TRIBUTES BELOW
