Michael Dooley Junior

The death has occurred of Michael Dooley (Jnr), Old Callan Road, Kilkenny City) suddenly on January 4, 2026 surrounded by his loving and devoted family in St. Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny. Michael will be greatly missed by his heartbroken family, son Tommy, daughter Kirsten, his dad and mam Mick and Rose (née Power), grandchildren Harper-Rose and Penny, brother John, nieces, nephews, extended family, good neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Michael will repose in Shasby’s Funeral Home, Kilkenny City on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 4pm to 7pm with rosary and vigil prayers at 5.30pm. Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Sunday (11th) in St. Mary’s Cathedral at 12 noon followed by burial in Foulkstown Cemetery. The Requiem Mass can be viewed live streamed only here The Dooley Family would like to express their sincere thanks to the emergency services, in particular the ambulance personnel and advanced paramedics HSE and to the doctors, nurses and staff in the Emergency Department in St. Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny who came to Michael’s assistance and also to Noel Murphy Ayrlfield HSE who cared for Michael at home. No flowers please, donations in lieu to the Jack & Jill Foundation, donation box in funeral home and church. House strictly private please.

 

 

Jimmy (Harry) McGarry

The death has occurred of Jimmy (Harry) McGarry, De La Salle Place, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny, R95 N9P, and formerly of McDonagh Street. Jimmy passed away on December 31, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital, unexpectedly following an accident. Beloved husband of Martina (née O'Neill) and much loved father of Kayleigh and Kevin. Jimmy will be dearly missed by his heartbroken family, parents Kevin and Kathleen, sisters Sandra and Julie, son-in-law John, daughter-in-law Niamh, his darling grandchildren Megan, Ogie, Annabelle, Aoibhín, John, Austin and Gracie, mother-in-law Mary, brothers-in-law Willie and Tony, nephews, nieces, extended family, kind neighbours and his many friends. Predeceased by his father-in-law Michael and brother-in-law Mickey. Jimmy's family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU at St. Luke's Hospital for the wonderful care and kindness shown to both Jimmy and themselves during his time with them and also to the paramedics and gardai who first attended to Jimmy.

Reposing at his home (R95N9PD) on Tuesday, January 6, from 4pm concluding with Prayers at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 10.30am in St. Canice's Church. Sheila Kennedy

The death has occurred of Sheila Kennedy, Ashwood Estate, Hebron Road, Kilkenny, and formerly of Dominic Street. Sheila passed away on January 3, 2026, peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital. Sheila will be sadly missed by her loving sister Patricia (Hogan), brother-in-law Ollie, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours, friends and former work colleagues at SOS, Kilkenny.

John (Johnny) Jordan

The death has occurred of John (Johnny) Jordan, Corbally, Limerick and formerly of Callan, Kilkenny, Wicklow, Blackrock, Co. Dublin and Greenhills, Loughlinstown. John died suddenly, at Athlunkard House Nursing Home, on Saturday, January 3, 2026. John was a much-loved husband of 63 years by his loving wife Bridie, (recently deceased), his sons Albert, Paul, Brian, Mark, daughters-in-law Heather, Sorcha, Desiree, Suzanne, grandchildren, Glen, Lee, Kim, Latisha, Hazel, Caoimhe, Eadoin, Eoghain, Sam, Aliya and Jake. He will be much missed by his surviving brothers, Jim and Micheal, sisters-in-law Rose, Pauline, Rita, Chrissie and Biddy, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, relatives, friends and all the staff in Athlunkard nursing home.

Johnny will repose at Molloy’s Funeral Home, Callan, Co. Kilkenny (Eircode R95 Y443) on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 10am. Funeral Prayers at 11.15am followed by removal to The Church of the Assumption, Callan (Eircode R95 VK82), arriving for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Kilbride Cemetery, Callan. Nuala Earle

The death has occurred of Nuala Earle, Old Callan Road, Kilkenny, on January 3, 2026 (peacefully) in the wonderful care of the staff at Drakelands House Nursing Home. Beloved mother of Mary, Helen, David, Eugene, Keith and Darren. She will be forever in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Requiem Mass on Tuesday at 11am in St. Mary's Cathedral followed by interment in Foulkstown Cemetery. Nuala's Requiem Mass will be live streamed HERE

Catherine (Kitty) Doyle (née Walsh)

The death has occurred of Catherine (Kitty) Doyle (née Walsh), Ballycumber Road, Ferbane, Offaly, late of Fier, Ballinakill, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny. Catherine, who was fondly known as Kitty, died on January 3, 2026, peacefully at home with her family, in her 101st year. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael, parents, Martin and Elizabeth, her siblings, (twin sister) Bessie, Jack, Neddy, Mary-Ann, Martin, and Bridie. Kitty will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her loving family, Esther, Eilish, Bernie, Catherina, and Paul, grandchildren, Connor, Fiona, Sean, Coleman, Scott, Emily, Jack and Rory, great-granddaughter Hannah, sons-in-law Tom and Ward, daughter-in-law Mary, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Removal on Tuesday morning, January 6, to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Ferbane, where her Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11am, and may be viewed on http://www.ferbaneparish.ie.  Kitty will be laid to rest afterwards in Kilrehan Cemetery.
