A popular County Kilkenny bring bank is to be relocated, because of ongoing illegal dumping in its vicinity.
After a comprehensive review of bring bank locations, the council has decided to remove the bottle bank from Ferrybank due to ongoing issues with unlawful dumping at the site. The local authority says the decision reflects an ongoing commitment to keeping communities tidy and promoting responsible waste disposal.
Kilkenny County Council confirms that the bottle bins and clothes recycling bins will be removed in totality from their current location by tomorrow (Thursday), and apologises for any inconvenience caused in the interim period.
The council is exploring options to relocate the bottle bank to enhance its accessibility and usability while reducing instances of littering and misuse. The new location will be announced as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, residents are asked to use the nearby Civic Amenity Site in Granny, just a five-minute drive away. The Civic Amenity Site offers a wide range of services, including recycling for various materials, ensuring residents have the opportunity to dispose of their waste responsibly.
