Recently announced People Before Profit candidate Kevin Shore is set to go forward for election in 2024
A candidate for next year's local elections in Kilkenny has postponed his campaign launch after suffering a heart attack.
Recently announced People Before Profit candidate Kevin Shore was taken to the hospital at the weekend due to repeated chest pains and shortness of breath. A statement from his campaign team said he had several heart attacks, but is stable and in good spirits, however he will need to undergo surgery.
“As we get older it's important to listen to your body. I was shocked when he said I had a heart attack. I am so lucky I got to the doctor and then the hospital so quickly," Mr Shore said.
"The only reason I did was because I listened to a good friend of mine who had a heart attack recently. He spoke of indigestion, heartburn type pains, and of course chest pains. If I didn't listen to that I would have carried on my weekend and thought nothing of the chest pains I got. The next chest pain could have been a major heart attack and I could be dead, today, tomorrow or next week, but it was fairly inevitable. Pay attention to your bodies, listening could save your life.”
He continued: “While the launch is cancelled, I encourage you all to attend the Love Music, Hate Racism event at 9pm at Hacketts bar 10 Irishtown. Anti racism is a core part of my life. Please raise a glass against hate and raise another wishing me a quick recovery. The weekly protest I called in solidarity with Palestine will continue to go ahead 5.30pm Wednesday's at Kilkenny Town Hall. ”
The event Love Music Hate Racism will be a DJ set to challenge racism and celebrate diversity through music. The set begins at 9pm Friday, November 17 in Hacketts Bar.
