The count at Kilkenny College
Catherine Connolly is maintaining a commanding lead in Carlow/Kilkenny as around 60% of the ballots have now been tallied in the presidential election constituency.
The Independent candidate from Galway is the number one choice on 61.9% (11,921) of valid ballots tallied so far with Fine Gael’s Heather Humphreys coming in at 30.5% (5,817) followed by the withdrawn Fianna Fáil contender Jim Gavin on 7.6% (1,464).
Spoiled votes have made up a significant portion of around 12.6% (2,787) of all ballots to this stage.

The boxes accounted for make up the vote from all of Carlow with most of South Kilkenny also now included.
