Wrestling returns to Kilkenny after 'electric' debut - with very 'Comer twist

In a very Castlecomer twist, this event will feature a ‘Kiss My Wellie’ match

Wrestling returns to Kilkenny after 'electric' debut - with very 'Comer twist!

After an ‘electric’ first outing, live wrestling is returning to Castlecomer Community Hall on Saturday, June 14.

Last month, Kilkenny buzzed with excitement as ‘No Limit Wrestling’ (NLW) presented its heavily anticipated ‘Clash in Castlecomer’ event.

A highlight of the evening was the homecoming of ‘Chainsaw’ Luke Frehill to Kilkenny.

Making his debut in his home county, Frehill delivered a spectacular performance that captivated the crowds.

One of the big names hoping to solidify his reputation here in Kilkenny in the next event will be Conor Brady Lee (CBL) from Longford.

CBL, who goes by ‘The Bull’, described ‘Clash in Castlecomer’ as an ‘electric’ event, and will be aiming to put on another great show for local wrestling fans.

He has spent seven years building up his reputation in wrestling, and is known for cheeky ‘culchie lad’ persona.

Like many young wrestling fans, he grew up watching WWE.

When he saw an Irish man in the form of pro-wrestler ‘Sheamus’ make it to the summit, he felt anything could be possible - with enough hard work.

“Over the years, I fell head-over-heels for wrestling and would travel to any county to see it live,” he said.

To be able to perform in towns like Castlecomer means a lot to CBL, because he can empathise with the local wrestling fans, particularly the younger generation.

“It’s cool to see everything beginning to come full-circle now,” he said. “Having young people ask me how they can get involved in wrestling. That means a lot.”

For CBL, a huge boost comes from a responsive crowd, and he is looking forward to hearing the roars in ‘Comer.

In a very Castlecomer twist, CBL will be facing off against Justy in the first ever ‘Kiss My Wellie’ match.

Although organisers are keen to not give away all the behind-the-scenes details about this match, they have noted that it will be a nod of respect to all involved in organising the wellie race in Castlecomer every year and will be a ‘memorable moment’ for the audience.

Hometown favourite ‘Chainsaw’ Luke Frehill will also be back in action against ‘Bittersweet’ Josh whilst a host of other wrestlers will also be making appearances.

This event is fun for the whole family, and tickets are selling fast.

To secure yours, you can buy tickets on Eventbrite or by contacting local councillor and organiser Maurice Shortall.
