FRS is looking for new workers in Kilkenny

FRS Farm Relief is hoping to secure an additional 20 farm workers in Carlow/ Kilkenny this spring to join their workforce supporting the farming community throughout the counties.

They are offering interested workers a potential package of over €6,000 for those who provide farm support for the next three months.

Workers will be provided with guaranteed pay based on hours worked with opportunities to earn extra. Other benefits include localised work built around their geographical location, a commitment to help team members progress their skills and career, an online app to easily manage their working schedule and pay, matching the work and farm to their skills and preferences, additional training and dedicated local point of contact.

FRS Farm Relief are seeking this additional support to join their team of approximately 1,300 farm workers across the country. The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic and like working outdoors, interested in developing their skillsets and furthering their careers. Candidates should also enjoy hands on practical work and dealing with animals.

FRS are particularly keen to hear from workers with previous farming experience, including milking. Among the type of tasks those who join the FRS Farm Relief team of farm workers can expect to undertake, depending on their skillsets and preferences, will include milking; operation of farming machinery such as tractors, loaders, quads and other machinery; calving duties including calf rearing as well as general farm work such as feeding, bedding and herding.

This recruitment campaign comes as FRS Farm Relief notes there will be a strong demand for additional farm labour throughout the spring season. Recent research published by FRS showed that 2 out of 3 farmers found it difficult to source sufficient labour for their farms last year. This research also showed that 9 in 10 workers say they are proud to work in farming, with 7 in every 8 preferring outdoor work over office jobs.

FRS is hoping this recruitment campaign will help attract more workers in Carlow/ Kilkenny and provide greater flexibility in the delivery of support to farms across the county.

“We think there is a strong opportunity available this spring for anyone in Carlow/ Kilkenny who would like to consider undertaking some farm work and earn an extra €6k over the next three months,” said Colin Donnery, Group CEO of FRS Network. “Farms across Carlow, Kilkenny and throughout the country are seeking additional support ahead of a busy spring season. To help address that need, FRS Farm Relief has organised this recruitment campaign to further boost our strong workforce of farm operators in the county and across the wider region,” he said.

“Our aim through this recruitment drive is to connect local workers with farms in their area, helping them to develop their skills and experience, to secure extra income and also benefitting the local farming community,” added Dan Kiely of FRS Farm Relief, Kilkenny/ Carlow. “It is a win win for all involved and we hope there will be strong interest from those in Kilkenny or Carlow who would like to pursue a career in farming. Anyone who has farming experience or would like to try out a career in farming is encouraged to contact our local team here,” he concluded.

Any workers who would be interested in taking up these openings, or who would like any additional information are encouraged to contact Dan Kiely dkiely@kcdfrs.ie of the FRS Farm Relief team in Carlow/ Kilkenny and visit www.frsfarmrelief.ie/careers .
