Investment of more than €33,000 in Kilkenny agricultural shows has been warmly welcomed in the county.

Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD, announced an investment of over €1 million to support 123 Agricultural Shows right across the country.

Four shows in Kilkenny are included in the funding allocations - Ballyfoyle Agricultural Show, Castlegannon Show, Iverk Show and the Welsh (Pony) Championship Show in Inistioge.

Local Cllr Pat Fitzpatrick has warmly welcomed the announcement. “I am delighted to see this funding secured for the Ballyfoyle Agricultural Show. This event has flourished over the years thanks to the dedication of local volunteers, and this funding is a well-deserved recognition of their hard work. It will ensure that the show continues to thrive and serve as a highlight for our community.

“I also want to thank Minister Calleary and all involved in providing this important funding. These shows are at the heart of our rural communities, and this support will help them continue to grow and succeed. I look forward to seeing another fantastic year for agricultural events across the county.”
