Alert for Kilkenny growers: Blight warning issued by Met Eireann

Farming and hobby growers in Kilkenny are being warned of high risk blight conditions in the coming days.

According to Met Eireann, who produce detailed farming forecasts, weather conditions conducive to the spread of Potato Blight will occur over the southern half of Ireland tomorrow, Wednesday, May 28. These conditions will develop once again across the country on Thursday  and Friday.

However, spraying opportunities will be limited over the coming week due to changeable and unsettled conditions. The best opportunity for spraying will be between the showers on Wednesday morning and afternoon, Met Eireann advises.

The Met Eireann map of blight risk for the coming days (above) shows large parts of Kilkenny are at 'very high risk.'
