Huge pride for Kilkenny woman who 'has turned her life around for the better'

The Hawk Against The Dove is the story of Antoinette Foley formerly of Donaguile, Castlecomer, County Kilkenny

From this week's Castlecomer Notes inside The Kilkenny People: This week we salute Antoinette Foley, daughter of Tom and the late Nellie Foley, Donaguile who has turned her life of many challenges around for the better.

Antoinette’s story was documented in 'The Hawk against the Dove', a book by James Mahon which focusses on addiction in small town Ireland and Antoinette’s remarkable story.

The 132-page hardback with 65 pictures and accounts is available for €30.

Once confined to the cities, drug addiction has crept into the quiet corners of rural Ireland and leaves no community untouched.

Through the life of Antoinette Foley, The Hawk Against the Dove exposes the realities of substance abuse, and the fight to reclaim what was lost.

As her progress developed, a photographic documentary was made.

Athy Photography Society plan to host this exhibition in the next couple of months featuring many photos of Antoinette.
