Kilkenny senior hurler Cian Kenny has claimed he is 'over the moon' with his All-Star nomination.

The three-time Leinster title winner with the Cats joins Huw Lawlor, David Blanchfield and John Donnelly on the list of nominees and has claimed the nomination alone means a great deal to him and his family.

"It was a very special day when I found out I got the nomination," Kenny told the Kilkenny People Sport Podcast.

"You get to be part of something that's very special with the best inter-county hurlers around so it's a very happy feeling. I was over the moon with it," he added.

The James Stephens clubman made his inter-county debut in 2022 and started every game across the Allianz Hurling League and All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship last season.

However, despite reaching such high-levels of consistency, the 23 year old claims an All-Star nomination never crossed his mind.

"It hasn't crossed my mind at all to be honest. We're in the club mix here so I'm concentrating so much on the club."

"I forgot it was coming out this early to be honest with you," he commented, adding, "I'm absolutely over the moon, like it's not something you think about, it's a thing that just happens and if you're lucky enough to get a nomination, you're lucky enough to get a nomination," he continued.
