Kilkenny manager, Derek Lyng is adamant they still have a 'huge amount of work to do' ahead of the Leinster Championship.

The Cats welcome Galway to UPMC Nowlan Park on Saturday, April 19 for the first round of the provincial series.

Lyng's team recorded their third win of the Allianz Hurling League campaign on Saturday, with a spirited 0-29 to 0-20 victory over Limerick in UPMC Nowlan Park on Saturday.

"I think it was important that we put in a performance today and I think that was important to everyone involved. We were disappointed with how we showed up last week but it's a positive end to the league and it's all systems go for championship," Lyng commented after the match.

The result was in stark contrast to the home loss to Tipperary last Sunday, where it never appeared 12 man Kilkenny were never going to beat their near-neighbours. However, the Kilkenny boss felt just as responsible for the disappointing outcome.

"They (the players) didn't let me down, I had to look at myself just as much as the players, it's a collective and we were all very disappointed. Today was good that we showed up and the character that we showed but that's fine today but we really need to drive on on the next four or five weeks and make sure they're ready for April 19."

"We have a huge amount of work to do, it's a really important four or five weeks," the Kilkenny manager said, adding, "it's going to be relentless but we have a panel now and we'll work them hard in the next month or so," he continued.
