James Stephens were crowned JJ Kavanagh & Sons Junior Section B champions in 2024 with one man's role particularly unique.

Among the key men for the Village was Jamie O'Keeffe who played an important role throughout the season. A period in his life now captured in an inspirational video.

A league or championship title for the city club is always sweet but for O'Keeffe, it was particularly special.

In 2023, the local hurler and Castlewarren Celtic soccer player's future looked bleak after he picked up what appeared to be a life changing neck injury during a training game on the Larchfield pitch.

Jamie, his family and friends were unsure if we would ever play sport or even walk again.

Fast-forward the clock and after much physio and personal determination, O'Keeffe returned for the 2024 season as fit as ever, keen to win silverware with his beloved club.

Last month, the O'Keeffe family marked Jamie's remarkable achievement by releasing a heartwarming video.
