Shefflin seeks 'improvements' as Shamrocks march on in Leinster - Kilkenny Live

Shamrocks manager Henry Shefflin has admitted they will have to make "massive improvements" when they play St Martin's in the AIB Leinster Club Hurling Final in Croke Park on Saturday, December 6.

The Kilkenny county champions showed great character to overcome Laois champions Clough-Ballacolla in an exciting UPMC Nowlan Park affair.

"The overriding emotion is probably relief, we knew at half-time we were under pressure and weren't firing at all against a stiff breeze.

"In the second half I thought we played a bit better," Shefflin said, adding, "I'm delighted to get victory. It's winter hurling, underfoot conditions are very difficult," crediting the Clough Ballacolla performance.

"If we perform like we did today we won't beat them (St Martin's). When you think of serial winners (from across the country), they're very difficult opposition so to be honest I'm just delighted that we're there and we can plan ahead but we do know we have massive improvements to make if we are going to win the Leinster final," he continued.
