Constituents across County Kilkenny are being asked to ensure that they know the location of their polling station before voting in the upcoming general election.

This advice is particularly pertinent to voters near the borders of the constituencies of Carlow-Kilkenny and North Tipperary.

Speaking to Kilkenny Live, Cllr Mary Hilda Cavanagh stated that there is some confusion in the parish of Lisdowney and townland of Tinnaslatty, with some locals set to cast their vote in Ballyragget (for Carlow-Kilkenny candidates) and others in Gathabawn (for Tipperary North candidates).

“People really need to check their polling cards so that they are not caught out on the day,” Cllr Cavanagh emphasised.

Elsewhere in Kilkenny, voters in Castlewarren area advised to note possible changes to their polling station, with news that the local community hall will not be used on polling day.

Cllr Pat Fitzpatrick described it as a ‘bad step’, adding that ‘people on the edge of Paulstown will have to travel further to Johnswell’.
