Saturday was a long and tiresome day for election candidates as after an afternoon of tallies, the first count didn't arrive until shortly after 11pm.
After the first count, nobody was elected, as no candidate had reached the quota. However, the THREE lowest candidates have been excluded.

The election dream ended for John O'Leary (Independent), Noel G Walsh (Independent) and David Egan (Liberty Republic) who were all eliminated on the first count.
Meanwhile, outgoing Fianna Fáil TD John McGuinness leads the way with the most first preference votes (9,794) followed by party colleagues; Jennifer Murnane O'Connor (8,087) and Peter 'Chap Cleere (7,194).
A second count is due to be completed later this morning.
