BREAKING: Carlow-Kilkenny General Election hots up with major development

Thirteen candidates remain in the hunt for a Dáil seat in Carlow-Kilkenny with Luke O'Connor (Independent) eliminated on the fifth count. 

Outgoing Fianna Fáil TD, John McGuinness will have to wait a little bit longer to secure his passage through after receiving a total of 9,887 votes so far.

The quota is 11,627 with Jennifer Murnane O'Connor (Fianna Fáil) and Peter 'Chap' Cleere (Fianna Fáil) just behind on 8,230 and 7,250 votes respectively.
