Stellar acts to perform at the Watergate in Kilkenny this month

Foster & Allen will perform at the Watergate on January 27

A number of top acts are set to perform at the Watergate Theatre in Kilkenny this month.

The ever popular panto is entertaining audience with a handful of performances left - however all shows are now sold out!

Multi award-winning comedian, Conal Gallen, brings his hilarious stand-up comedy show back on the road for 2023 and performs in Kilkenny on January 20. The Donegal man is known around Ireland and the UK for his hilariously quick wit, rib-tickling stories and comedy songs! Don’t miss your chance to laugh the whole night away with one of Ireland’s all time favourite comedians.

Later this month The Ronan Collins Showband Show “Reeling In the Showband Years” will return to The Watergate Theatre for it’s 13th year on January, 21! RTE’s Ronan Collins is Host and Compere.

The line up this year is incredible and includes performers such as the legendary Red Hurley who is renowned as a living Legend of showbiz for the past 40 years and one of the superstars of The Showband Era. Other performing artists include Linda Martin, lead singer with Chips and Eurovision winner, Shaun O’Dowd of “Ding-A-ling”, Dave Lawlor, The Conquerors and Keith and Lorraine McDonald.

All of the stars join in for a medley of songs from the unique Showband Years! Bringing you back in time to this magical musical period and the show’s exciting finale is an All Cast Salute to the Showband Era.

Another highlight this month promises to be a performancy by Bone Machine - a band of internationally renowned touring and recording musicians that perform a rebrand, melancholic, and punk jazz set of Tom Waits songs. They will perform for one night only at the Watergate Theatre on January 28.

Whether or not the songs of Tom Waits play a central roll in your music collection, you simply have to experience this show live to feel the heaven-opening maelstrom of beauty scarcely captured by a live band.

From Martha to Downtown Train, Bone Machine bring the heart, atmosphere and sweat to performances brimming with a ramshackle sophistication and honesty as well as the renowned Waitsian monologues full of the funny anecdotes for which Mr

Waits is universally celebrated. From bourbon soaked ballads to evocative Godliness and anarchic elegance, there has never been a show that has captured the golden thread of what makes Waits such a legend until now!

Meanwhile legendary performers Foster and Allen will take to the stage on January 27 celebrating over 48 years in the Music Business with their We’ll Meet Again Irish Tour.

Mick and Tony will of course be performing all their Hits like “Bunch Of Thyme” (it was the 40th Anniversary in February 2022 that Foster & Allen appeared on Top Of The Pops performing Bunch Of Thyme), Old Flames, Maggie, After All These Years, We Owe It All To You, Mrs. Brown’s Boys, as well as some of their new recordings from their new album We’ll Meet Again.
The brand new album was released last October and from the opening title track, the evergreen ‘We’ll Meet Again’, to their rendition of popular classics such as ‘Grace’, ‘The Cliffs Of Dooneen’, ‘Cotton Fields Back Home’, Foster & Allen are well and truly back in stride.

Foster & Allen aren’t showing any signs of slowing down and their recording and touring commitments prove how popular they remain for their fans who like to hear them at home and see them in a live experience.
