It's a May day for new fire station opening in North Kilkenny

The state-of-the-art new fire station in Urlingford is on target for completion by the end of May of this year.

That’s according to main contractor for the project McStan MD John Staunton.

Local councillor Michael McCarthy (Fianna Fail) says he is very pleased with the progress to date.

“The impressive two-bay station will include a training yard, lecture room and staff facilities, specific training installations including a drill tower, an underground water tank and a breathing apparatus compressor room,” said Cllr McCarthy.

“The project received €1.7 million funding as part of the national investment plan.”
