Fifteen-year-old Cormac Roche won a Special Merit Award for his artwork entitled ‘Eye Of The Storm’
A Kilkenny student artist from St Patrick’s Special School, Kilkenny, has won a top prize in this year’s 69th Texaco Children’s Art Competition.
Fifteen-year-old Cormac Roche won a Special Merit Award for his artwork entitled ‘Eye Of The Storm’, which Final Adjudicator, Professor Gary Granville said ‘was imaginative and displayed high levels of creativity’.
The Texaco Children’s Art Competition is popularly regarded as the longest-running sponsorship in the history of arts sponsoring in Ireland, with an unbroken history that dates back to the very first Competition held in 1955. It is hosted by Valero Energy (Ireland) Ltd – the company that markets fuel in Ireland under the Texaco brand.
This year, as has been the case throughout its life, it has been a platform on which young artists from Kilkenny and counties throughout Ireland have had their talents recognised and their creativity commended.
The art competition also publishes an annual calendar, featuring some of the best artwork submitted.
