Leinster rivals Kilkenny and Wexford clash in The Glen Dimplex All-Ireland senior championship Group 2 resulted in a draw on Saturday evening in Nowlan Park.

Although the match finished level Colin Sunderland’s Wexford side may feel victorious after salvaging what looked to finish a 7 score loss, in the last minutes of the game, four scores being in stoppage time.

An early goal for Wexford’s Shelly Keogh set the Cats gunning as they went on to take the next five points, four of which from the stick of Katie Nolan.

With a strong defence and points from O’Connor, Gaule, Power and Nolan the Cats were up by 4 going into half time.

Just 40 seconds into the second half Julianne Malone put Kilkenny up a further goal which was quickly made 2 by Jenny Clifford.

Although the Cats seemed to be in control, Wexford’s Linda Bolger’s goal kept them in contention.

With just 7 minutes left of normal time Kilkenny lead the game with 1-17(20) to Wexford's 2-7(13), few supporters would have anticipated the big finale that was coming.

Three O’Connor scores for Wexford (two from frees and one from play) set the scene for a frantic period of stoppage time. Áine Leacy claimed the goal that changed the game.

Six minutes into stoppage time saw Sarah O’Connor drive from centre back, having lost her hurl she kicked the ball down to her sister Ciara, who levelled the game with her ninth point of the afternoon, struck from 55 metres out while under pressure.

A riveting match between Leinster Rivals ended in a draw in Nowlan Park.
