The 29th annual Inistioge vintage rally is set to take place on Crow Island, Inistioge this August bank holiday weekend.
The famous Kilkenny village has run the vintage rally since 1993, each year raising funds for various local clubs and charities. This year's celebratory weekend is largely in aid of the Carlow Kilkenny HomeCare team, a charity that holds a great part of the hearts of the Kilkenny people.
The weekend of historical culture and family fun is set to kick off at 6pm on Saturday evening when the tractor run starting in Mullinahone, Tipperary begins their parade through the village, over the ten arch bridge and ending on Crowe Island where the action of Sunday’s fair looms. Saturday evening will be full of life in Inistioge with live music from Luke Tennyson in local family pub O’Donnells.
Sunday will see a full field day packed with all kinds of stalls and activities alongside the long list of various vintage cars, tractors and farm equipment on display.
Annually anticipated activities include a dog show, a sound stage with live music from various acts throughout the day, a merry go round and underage hurling and camogie blitzes’. There will also be fun challenges and competitions such as welly throwing, hurling challenges, hanging tough and a rodeo bull eager for participants.
You won't go hungry with a tea and sandwich tent, hot food from Cullen's Kitchen, a old style sweet shop and an ice cream van.
There are also set to be various types of vendors and stalls on the field for the rally.
The fun day on the field will be followed by live outdoor music from Mean Streets on the square in the heart of Inistioge village kicking off from 6.30pm. The buzz is set to stay all night with music from DJ Bob closing out the bank holiday weekend in O’Donnells, Inistioge.
With children’s admissions free of charge and adults only asked of 5 euro upon entry, and all proceeds going to local clubs and charities, there's no excuse not to get down to Inistioge this weekend for a bank holiday of entertainment and enjoyment.
