Kilkenny drivers are paying the least for car insurance according to latest findings

Kilkenny have the cheapest annual car insurance on average according to insurance experts Chill.

Paying just €541 on average, Kilkenny is the county in Ireland with the lowest car insurance costs. Waterford comes in second with a slightly higher price of €562, slipping one place compared with previous rankings. Mayo completes the top three, both having an average of €596 for car insurance.

County Laois has seen the biggest drop in price. Late last year, Laois was the 16th cheapest county for car insurance, however as of August 2023 they have shot up by 12 places and are now the fourth cheapest at €606. Clare and Roscommon have also significantly dropped in price this year, both rising up by seven places.

County Westmeath and Tipperary have had two of the largest price increases from last year to now.
