Henry, Donnacha and Teeto who are all active members of TADA
TADA Theatre and Film School is moving to Thomastown Scouts Den and now offers classes in film making as well as a youth theatre.
TADA was started by playwright and drama facilitator Gillian Grattan in 2017.
Children write all their own material and perform it. They create their scripts and characters as well as performing in their own pieces.
This year, during Cruinniu na Nog, they held a film festival, screening short films created by children from Thomastown and Inistioge. Thomastown Community centre has a fantastic new cinema screen and so the young creators got to see their creations and themselves on the big screen. The plan is to expand the film festival in 2024.
Apart from all that, these classes are the perfect way to make new friends and have a lot of fun. The skills that children learn can be applied to all kinds of situations. They learn about the structure of story and how to create interesting characters as well as more technical aspects of film making and stagecraft.
