Kilkenny County Council Arts Office are collaborating with Oide Creativity and artist Lisa Fingleton to organise a one-day elective workshop open to teachers at all levels and subject disciplines on Saturday, October 14.
The workshop entitled, Creativity in a Changing Climate, offers participants the opportunity to engage with and respond to “the Sandwich Story” exhibition, guided by its creator, Lisa Fingleton.
Lisa Fingleton is an artist, filmmaker, writer and grower who was inspired by a BLT sandwich to illustrate the journey of one sandwich and all its ingredients, uncovering some surprising discoveries along the way.
“The Sandwich Story explores issues around our food systems and how they impact on climate and biodiversity. The exhibition asks what type of food we want to be eating in the future and how can we make sure that we get there,” she said.
“The exhibition is all about thinking global and eating local and using our creativity in a changing climate.”
Participants will also share and discover creative approaches for integrating climate and biodiversity actions in the classroom, engage collaboratively in a creative activity and discuss and reflect on the interconnections of food, self-sufficiency and sustainability.
The workshop will last from 10.30am to 3.30pm and will take place at the Kilkenny County Council exhibition space on John Street.
Spaces are limited, register now on their website.
