Thomastown Pantomime Productions is bringing panto to Thomastown for the first time ever.

Jack and the Beanstalk: A Giant of a Panto will debut on November 16.

Watch as Jack attempts to fight his nemesis Blunderbore the Giant and his evil sidekick Fleshcreep.

Can the hero win the heart of his beloved Jill with the help of Dame Trott and Silly Billy or will the villains ruin the village of Happyville forever?

The show is written and directed by Mark Duffy.

“We just want to give people a good night's entertainment,” said Mark.

He began the initial work of putting the show together around four months ago and explained that there was a lot to organise before they could even start rehearsals, but he had a good few people around him supporting the production.

Mark said that he didn’t find the writing process that difficult because he had experienced it before and that the real challenge was getting everything else together.

Some of these tasks included organising auditions, costumes, sound and working with the technical teams.

“Anything like this is around a six months process from start to finish,” he said.

Mark describes the show as a ‘good old traditional pantomime where people have fun and leave with smiles on their faces’ and said that rehearsals are well underway and that everything is coming together.

The cast and crew will be perfecting the performance for the next six weeks so that everything goes smoothly for the live shows.

The upcoming panto promises to feature a host of side-splitting gags alongside dazzling choreography and show stopping songs.

Mark assures the audience that there is something there for everyone, young or old.

“I wrote from an audience’s perspective,” he said, including a lot of audience interaction and participation.

Jack and the Beanstalk: A Giant of a Panto is showing at Thomastown Community Centre from November 16 to 19.
