Kilkenny Musical Society’s Golden Anniversary Gala Concert

Kilkenny Musical Society’s Golden Anniversary Gala Concert

The concerts will take place on November 9 and 10

Kilkenny Musical Society will take to the Watergate stage this Thursday and Friday, (November 9 and 10), for a trip down memory lane to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a Gala Concert.

Under the musical direction of Christine Scarry, the audience will be treated to a wonderful selection of songs from a wide range of musicals that have been performed over the past 50 years by the society; shows such as ‘The Pirates of Penzance’, ‘Oklahoma’, ‘Michael Collins: A Musical Drama’, ‘Guys and Dolls’, ‘Oliver!’ and ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, to name but a few.

Part of the magic of this concert is that it will feature performances from those who have played a pivotal role in these shows since the foundation of KMS, and the society is delighted to have so many of these members back treading the boards after all these years. Singers and actors, many of whom have been recipients of awards from the Association of Irish Musical Societies, will be involved and sharing their talents with the audience once again.

Michael Hayes, Emma McGuinness, Kevin Reade, Sarah Brennan, Kevina Hayes, David Doyle, Declan Taylor, and Nicola Harding are just some of the names that will be familiar with attendees of KMS shows over the years, and it is sure to be a wonderful evening’s entertainment with such talent all on stage together for two nights only.

A chorus of dedicated society members who have also been involved with KMS for many years will also be there on the night to entertain those lucky enough to attend.

Tickets are available from www.watergatetheatre.com or via the Watergate Box Office (open 2pm-6pm, Wednesday to Saturday) either in-person or call 056-7761674. Don’t miss this opportunity to catch the very best of local talent showcasing the very best of musical theatre in Kilkenny.
