Councillor John Coonan
Councillor John Coonan addressed the status of the Nuncio Road Apartments at the Kilkenny County Council meeting on Monday, November 20.
The apartments are a development project involving the construction of two blocks comprising 22 apartments.
“While the construction phase seemingly concluded over a year ago, the final certification needed for unit clearance remains pending,” said Cllr Coonan.
During the meeting, Cllr Coonan sought an update from Mary Mulholland, Director of Services at Kilkenny County Council, shedding light on the delay in providing homes to residents.
Mary Mulholland expressed her frustration with the current situation, explaining that the apartments are currently in the certification and conveyance stage and that this is the information provided by the Respond Approved Housing Body who are responsible for the delivery of the units.
She conveyed her expectation that the units will be available to be occupied in the first few months of 2024 but they are unavailable to provide any certainty on when until Respond confirms that keys are available.
This news has been warmly welcomed by the councillor.
“The Nuncio Road Apartments project represents a crucial step in addressing the housing needs of the local population. RESPOND remains committed to working collaboratively with Kilkenny County Council to ensure a smooth and timely allocation process,” he said.
