A report by the Health Information and Quality Authority has been published on the Mooncoin Residential Centre in South Kilkenny.
The unannounced inspection took place on July 13 at the purpose-built, two-storey premises, which residential care for 78 people on the ground floor.
According to the report residents were very positive about how they spent their days in the centre.
Residents spoke very positively about staff and indicated that staff were caring, responsive to their needs and treated them with respect and dignity. The inspectors also noted that the environment was ‘well maintained and exceptionally clean’ and activities were available for six days a week.
The report found that the centre was substantially compliant in training and development, complaints procedure, infection control, fire precautions, individual assessment and care plan, managing behaviour that is challenging and residents’ rights.
The inspectors also found that the centre is compliant in the areas of staffing, persons in charge, directory, contract for the provision of services, notification of incidents and not compliant in the areas of governance and management and premises.
