Staff and residents of Mount Carmel in Callan paused to reflect on a poignant day early in the new year — Connie McNulty’s last day of work.

Connie has retired after working in Mount Carmel’s kitchen for over 20 years. She has hit retirement age and will soon be seen travelling on public transport using her free pass.

Connie has seen a lot of changes in her time in Mount Carmel, from when the nuns ran the service to several managers. Over a recent coffee break it was worked out that Connie has made over 100,000 dinners — never mind trying to make out of cups of tea, which must be in the millions…

Connie’s dedication to the residents has always been unquestioned and her energy and commitment unwavering.

Asked what she will do in the next stage of her life Connie was unsure but will have lots to occupy her time with family.

After so many years of service in Mount Carmel, Connie will be missed terrible from the kitchen and the dining room table.
From the all the residents (past and present), staff and board of management wish her all the best in the next stage of her life.
