Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce, in association with the main sponsor, Glanbia Plc, has launched the Kilkenny Business Awards 2016 at a special luncheon in Rothe House and Gardens, on Thursday last.

Keynote speaker Gordon Murphy, Chief Financial Officer with Glanbia Ingredients Ireland was on hand to officially open the awards.

Nominations are now being sought for this year’s Kilkenny Business Awards for local businesses who demonstrate excellence within their sector. The awards’ are free to enter and open to both members and non-members of Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce.

Encouraging

Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce is encouraging businesses and individuals to nominate themselves or another local business that they think is deserving of an award. A simple nomination form can be downloaded from www.kilkennychamber.ie.

Commenting at the event, Gordon Murphy, Chief Financial Officer of Glanbia Ingredients Ireland said, “We are delighted to officially launch the Kilkenny Business Awards 2016. Through these awards Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce foster excellence in local enterprise and help to develop a stronger business community in Kilkenny. We encourage enterprises across the county to put forward a nomination.”

Butler Engineering

Also speaking at the event was last year’s overall ‘Business of the Year’ award winner, Joan Butler from T. Butler Engineering Ltd. She said, “We thoroughly enjoyed the Kilkenny Business Awards experience from start to finish last year and are proud to be a category sponsor this year. It was great to get an opportunity to tell the story of our business. As an indigenous Irish exporter of advanced technology, the awards have been very well received by our customers from Europe to North America.”

Deadline

The nominations deadline has been extended until Monday, 26th September; thereafter candidates will be required to put forward a full application. A shortlist of finalists will be announced and go on to the interview round in October. The winners will be announced on Saturday, 19th November at the Chamber’s annual black-tie banquet, the Kilkenny Business Awards’ ceremony in Lyrath Estate Hotel.
