Gardaí are investigating wanton acts of vandalism to public property in the city centre in recent days.
Four parking meters, belonging to Kilkenny County Council, were damaged between Thursday night and Friday morning.
The meters were damaged at a number of locations including the Black Abbey carpark, Michael Street and St Canices carpark.
Small amounts of monies were also taken from the machines and substantial damage was caused to the meters.
Gardai are appealing to the public and particularly to taxi drivers who may have seen people acting suspiciously in the vicinity to contact them in confidence.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Kilkenny gardaí on (056) 7775000.
