Remembering Kilkenny musician, John Conroy who died suddenly in May

An evening and a night of music to celebrate and remember John Conroy’s contribution to the scene in Kilkenny over 30 years will be held next week.

John who died suddenly at the end of May this year has left a huge void in the lives of his family and friends.

He was involved in many bands over the years and was a wonderfully, positive force.

The music fraternity in Kilkenny will hold an evening in his memory on Friday, December 2 in The Set.

An acoustic stage will be in place from 7pm featuring John's family and many of the musicians that John played with, including Anthony McAuley and friends, Mark Anthony McGrath, Tony Cleere and Conan Doyle, Paris Swing, Whiskers of Lichen, Malcolm Noonan and Paddy Flanagan, Dan Ryan and Redneck Classic and many more.

Then from 9.30pm, the Set main stage will host some of John’s rock bands, including Garland Sun and Dirty Elves.

Also appearing will be Little Elves and 1000 Splendid Sons.

TV Jones and the Tomahawks y Los Gatos will close out the night with their acclaimed show from Kilkenny Rhythm and Roots festival.

There will be no cover charge, but donations on the night will be collected for Kilkenny Mens Shed.
