Peter Pan and Shakespeare set for classic dates at two Kilkenny open-air venues

Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre.

Lucky audiences in Kilkenny will have the opportunity to enjoy two classic performances of Peter Pan and Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream at open-air venues here this summer.

Each year, the UK-based Chapterhouse Theatre Company visits beautiful castles, country estates and heritage sites with adaptations of literature’s most loved stories. Audiences are invited to bring along a rug and a picnic, with maybe a tipple or two to wash it all down, for a wonderful evening out with family and friends.

In Kilkenny, Lyrath Estate Hotel and the Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre will play host to performances on two days this June.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream - June 21

Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents Shakespeare’s best-loved romantic comedy at Lyrath Estate Hotel. Let yourself be whisked away on a thrilling journey to the most magical of forests and meet star-crossed lovers, playful fairies and hilarious travelling players. Beautifully designed Elizabethan costumes, a wonderful musical score and enchanting woodland creatures come together to make this an evening of unmissable summer garden theatre.

Peter Pan - June 30

Chapterhouse Theatre Company are delighted to present an all new production of Peter Pan at Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre. Join Wendy, Michael and John Darling on their adventures with Peter, far away on the magical island of Neverland. There they encounter the enchanting mermaids, magical fairies and the cruellest pirate of them all, Captain Hook. Presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, and in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, J.M.Barrie’s timeless classic is brought to life in a brand new adaptation by award winning writer Laura Turner, with beautifully designed costumes, music and songs.
