Traffic chaos caused by go slow protest on notorious Piltown bypass Kilkenny

No progress on fixing Valley of Death

Over 100 people, vexed by the lack of progress on fixing one of the most dangerous stretches of main road in the country, staged a protest this afternoon bringing traffic in and out of Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary  to a standstill.

Despite promises from a number of statutory bodies and government departments, no remedial work has been carried out on the Piltown bypass following a number of deaths there. 

And Piltown Parish priest, Fr Paschal Moore has expressed disappointment that Transport Minister, Shane Ross has not kept his promise to visit the bypass. Fr Moore said everyone agreed that something had to be done but that to date there has been no progress in finding a solution to the dangerous junctions and other perceived defects in the road.
