Gardaí in Kilkenny are investigating the theft of a money box from St Mary's Cathedral.
The discovery was made shortly before lunchtime on Monday.
Gardaí are investigating the theft and are appealing to anyone with information or any business who is asked to exchange a large amount of coin to contact them on (056) 777 5000.
