Christmas FM kicked off today with the Festive season only beginning in earnest once the temporary station has begun airing those holiday classics 24/7.

The charity radio station, which raises funds for deserving charities every year, began broadcasting at 1pm and will continue until December 27.

This year, Christmas FM and Sightsavers are partnering up with the aim to give the gift of sight to over 5,000 people worldwide.

Around the world 36 million are blind but 75% of those can be cured of prevented, according to the Christmas FM website.

If you fancy getting into the Christmas spirit, here's the frequency for Kilkenny: 104.3
