The new Central Access Scheme bridge is closed for the time being
The St Francis Bridge in Kilkenny City will remain closed until at least 3pm today (Saturday) to facilitate repairs to a gas leak, Kilkenny County Council has said.
The bridge, which is part of the new Central Access Scheme, has been closed since yesterday evening.
The council issued an alert advising all road users to use the Castlecomer Road, New Road and Greens Bridge. Traffic exiting the city via Irishtown are advised to use Dean Street, Granges Road and Freshford Road.
Kilkenny County Council apologises for the inconvenience.
