Fianna Fail TD Bobby Aylward has been in the national spotlight in recent days over his opposition to the stance of party leader Micheal Martin on repealing the Eighth Amendment.
The Kilkenny TD has organised a special meeting today of Parliamentary Party members opposed to repealing the Eighth. Deputy Aylward has been described as 'leading the Pro-Life charge' within the party, and he has said tonight's meeting is a get-together for a discussion on the issue.
A number of Fianna Fail TDs have expressed a difference of opinion with their party leader's new position on the Eighth Amendment. It is unclear how many party members, TDs and Senators intend to attend this evening's meeting.
