Kilkenny braces for exceptionally cold weather as 'Beast from the East' bears down

Exceptionally cold weather is forecast for next week with significant wind chill and severe frosts

Kilkenny should brace itself for a spell of extremely cold weather with Met Eireann today issuing a weather advisory for the next week.

The south-east region will be particularly affected by the so-called 'Beast From the East' - freezing winds from Scandinavia and Siberia. The following weather advisory has been issued by Met Eireann at noon today (Friday), February 23:

'Exceptionally cold weather is forecast for next week with significant wind chill and severe frosts. Disruptive snow showers are expected from Tuesday onwards, particularly in the east and southeast.'
