Clearing the road at the regional ambulance centre, just outside Kilkenny city

Soldiers based in James Stephens military barracks in Kilkenny city are helping with the efforts to keep medical personnel at work during the Red Weather warning alert.

They have been bringing staff to and from St Luke's Hospital as well as ferrying people to dialysis and helping deliver Meals On Wheels.

They are also on standby to help kilkenny County Council.

Meanwhile, staff were busy keeping access to the regional ambulance centre, just outside the city,  at Kilcreene on the Kilmanagh road, open this morning.
