Work will begin on a community playground for the villages of Clogh and Moneenroe over the coming weeks.
To date over €75,000 has been raised and the committee are confident that the remaining funds will be raised over the coming months.
“We need approximately €95,000 for the project. Kilkenny County Council have been very supportive and they have provided us with €45,000 in funding. We have raised over €20,000 locally and we will continue to fundraise,” said Cllr John Brennan.
“The field is affectionately known as The Plots and at present we have a wall constructed so anyone who donates will have their name on the wall and will be remembered by generations to come.
“Work will start over the coming weeks and we expect it to take around six weeks to complete. The playground will be a great asset for the local community and it will also be an attraction for families,” added Cllr Brennan.
The new playground will be wheelchair accessible and even boasts a wheelchair accessible carousel. There will also be swings, a sandpit, slides and other state of the art facilities.
“We want to thank everyone who has got behind this project. The people of Clogh, Moneenroe and the surrounding areas have been very supportive and we are very grateful,” secretary of the Clogh Community Council said.
