Patrons enjoying the chat and fare at Billy's Tearooms in Ballyhale
Community regeneration was to the fore in Ballyhale earlier today when Billy's Shop and Tearooms opened.
The non-profit venture is a voluntary effort and trojan work has taken place on this project since the idea was first mooted in August 2017.
Local produce and newspapers are now available in the village for the first time in six years and the shop is open daily. The tearooms also serve delicious home-cooked food and there was a great buzz around the place on the opening day of the premises.
Secretary of local community group, KSK, David Murphy told the Kilkenny People that there was a hugely positive reaction.
"People are delighted to have somewhere to go and socialise as well as stock up on their groceries, we hope we will continue to get some support in the weeks and months ahead," he added.
