Situated 1km from the Institute’s main campus on the Kilkenny Road in Carlow town, South Sports Campus will be a world-class training facility

Minister for Education and Skills Richard Bruton will turn the sod on Institute of Technology Carlow’s new €15 million, 31-acre South Sports Campus next week.

Situated 1km from the Institute’s main campus on the Kilkenny Road in Carlow town, South Sports Campus will be a world-class training facility, consolidating Institute of Technology Carlow’s position as one of Ireland’s leading third-level institutes for the provision of sport and physical activity, and greatly enhance its growing portfolio of sports-related programmes.

The planned works will include six full-sized playing pitches, floodlighting, a looped walking trail, athletics track, pavilion building and changing rooms.

The sod turning ceremony on Tuesday morning will be attended by collaborative partners, including representatives from the FAI, GAA and Leinster Rugby, as well as several current elite sports scholars.
