Gardaí are warning people to take extra security measures over the holiday period as opportunist criminals seek out empty homes.
In recent days a house at Jenkinstown, Conahy was targeted and a number of firearms and a large quantity of valuable jewellery was stolen.
Entry was forced into the property but as the residents were away at the time the incident did not come to light for a number of days.

Gardaí are also warning people to take extra security measures when they are away and to inform their neighbours to be vigilant.
